Finding a Discounted Rate
You can search for hotels offering discounts using our different sections:
- Featured Properties: Located on the left-hand side of the home page and on the "Find a Discount" page, you can select from a handfull of hotels by simply clicking its link.
- Featured Discounts in Cities: Located in the center of the home page and on the "Find a Discount" page (below Top Destinations), we feature specific hotels within top cities.
- Top Destinations: Located at the top center of the home page and again on the "Find a Discount" page, this section allows you to search for hotels in top travel destinations worldwide.
From our "Find a Discount" page you can use our Quick Search to find a discounted rate or click one of the Top Destination links. To use Quick Search, simply select your destination by entering the information in the fields provided such as city, state or province (for USA and Canada), and/or country, and hotel name (if known).
Click Find it! and you are taken to our "Searh Results" page where all listed properties are covered by our low price guarantee.
You can click the hotel name or the "more..." link to see a detailed information, including amenities, local attractions, directions, cancellation policies, and valid dates.
You can also sort list by availability, property name, rates, packages (if available), and property type, by clicking the column heading.
If none of these properties meet your needs, click "Everyday Great Rates" or "packages" (if available) for more hotel listings within your search area. Please note that such properties are not covered by
our low price guarantee.
You can also expand your search to the general area by clicking the "view surrounding area" link at the top of the page.
Please note, it is not always possible to view hotels in the surrounding area and the navigation to a new search area may be different depending on where you search for a hotel.

Making a Reservation
Once you find a place to stay you can make a real-time online reservation. However, before you book your room, please note the following:
- You must check room availability prior to booking.
- You must stay during the timeframe in which an offer is valid.
- A credit card is required to secure your reservation.
- Deposit and cancellation policies vary. Please note any restrictions or fees.
Tax may be included in the room rate. If it is not included, tax will be determined by the property and added to your total cost. Each hotel's tax information is displayed when you select a room and when your reservation is confirmed.
Checking availability
When you select a Top Destination from the home page or "Find a Discount" page, you'll see a list of our currently offered discounts in that area. If you find one that interests you, click the hotel name or the "more..." link to see more information about the hotel and what if offers. If you select one of our featured hotels from the DiscountPlaces.com home page or "Find a Discount" page you'll go directly to the property's home page where you can check availability (or check other dates), or book the property.
Refer to the Availability Calendar to see available and non-available dates, prices for each available day, plus any requirements and restrictions. When you find the dates you want to book, click your check-in date on the calendar to automatically enter day, month, and year in the boxes at the top of the page. Be sure to note the timeframe during which an offer is valid and any restrictions before you book your stay.
Room rates
Below are some general facts about rates for our discount hotels. For specific rate information, please note the hotel's rate and tax policies during the booking process. Also note information about the Euro below.
- Weekend rates are sometimes higher than weekday rates. Rates may also be higher during peak seasons.
- When you begin to book a room, rates you see are based on single or double occupancy, depending on the type of property. You'll see actual rates after you enter the number of guests.
- Children's rates vary depending on the hotel's policy. The age at which children are charged the adult rate also varies. Children's rates are not listed separately-they are included in the total room charge.
- Tax may be included in the rate. If it is not included, tax will be determined by the hotel and added to your total cost. Each hotel's tax information is displayed when you select a room and when your reservation is confirmed.
- Rates may not include service charges, fees, or other incidentals.
- During a transitional period in preparation for the introduction of the Euro in January 2002, it is the responsibility of businesses to respect regulations and fixed conversion rates set by the European Union. When you make a reservation at a Euro-zone hotel in 2001:
- Your reservation will be confirmed in Euros (see your e-mail confirmation).
- Until January 2002 the hotel will bill you for payment in the local currency for the exact amount quoted in Euros in your reservation.
- The official fixed currency rates will be used to calculate the amount in local currency. For example, a reservation with a confirmed rate per night of € 200,00 in France would be the equivalent in local currency to € 200,00 x 6,55957 or FRF 1'311,91.

However, under the Fair Credit Billing Act, your bank generally cannot hold you liable for more than $50.00 of any fraudulent charges. If your bank does hold you liable, we will cover the entire cost for you, up to the maximum of $50.00.

Changing or Canceling a Reservation
Before you change or cancel a reservation, be sure to read the hotel's policies (see your reservation confirmation). Some hotels enforce separate cancellation policies for discounted rooms and specials. There may be cancellation fees and generally stricter rules and restrictions. Hotels that require cancellation fees for full-price rooms may increase the cancellation fee for discounted rooms. Some hotels will not allow online cancellations within a specific time prior to check-in. In this case, please call the hotel directly to cancel your reservation and to avoid a possible cancellation or "no-show" fee.
To change, cancel, or review an existing reservation:
- Go to My Reservations from the home page or other pages.
- Enter your e-mail address and confirmation number (this information can be found on your e-mail notification sent to you after you booked your hotel), and then click Get My Reservation.
- On the "Your Reservations" page choose Cancel Reservation, Change Dates, or Change Credit Card.
- Follow the instructions on the resulting pages to make changes or cancellation(s). Once you finish, both you and the hotel will receive an e-mail confirmation.
Please Note:
Clicking the Cancel Reservation button does not cancel your reservation. You must click Cancel Reservation Now on the "Cancel Reservation" page.
To send a request to the hotel or to change your original request, select the Change Credit Card option on the "Your Reservations" page.
